Congratulations to Mary Ann Fraser, who has sold her debut YA novel to Sterling Children’s. This story, on which I consulted via Red Fox Literary, will appeal strongly to lovers of the ghoulish and gothic, young and old. Publishers Marketplace describes Mortal Remains as a “YA gothic romance” about “a seventeen-year-old resident cosmetologist at her family’s funeral home, and the mysterious boy she rescues from certain death—who oddly reminds her of a long-dead childhood crush.” Fraser is the author and illustrator of many children’s books, including Milton & Odie and the Bigger Than Bigmouth Bass and No Yeti Yet.
