Mortal Remains by Mary Ann Fraser

Congratulations to Mary Ann Fraser, who has sold her debut YA novel to Sterling Children’s. This story, on which I consulted via Red Fox Literary, will appeal strongly to lovers of the ghoulish and gothic, young and old. Publishers Marketplace describes Mortal Remains as a “YA gothic romance” about “a seventeen-year-old resident cosmetologist at her family’s funeral home, and the mysterious boy she rescues from certain death—who oddly reminds her of a long-dead childhood crush.” Fraser is the author and illustrator of many children’s books, including Milton & Odie and the Bigger Than Bigmouth Bass and No Yeti Yet. Find out more at her website.

Erin forces me to think about the underlying meaning of the story. This helps me add layers of real-life complexity to my fiction.”
